ZWO New Full-frame Cameras: ASI094 Pro and ASI128 Pro Released!

Big Big news! ZWO offically release two brand new full  frame cameras today! They are ASI094MC Pro and ASI128MC Pro. These two cameras integrate full-frame sensor and have different features. As the flagship products of ASI series, 094 and 128 have super nice performance and reasonable price. The most important is, they are limited editions!

IMX094 vs. KAI-11002

Compared with old full frame CCD such as  KAI-11002,  IMX094 has higher resolution, higher QE, lower read noise and faster FPS.

Features of ASI “Pro” series cameras

DDR Memory Buffer

New with the introduction of the ASI094 Pro camera and ASI128 Pro is an onboard 256MB DDR3 memory buffer. It ensures more stable data transfer and eliminates any amp-glow encountered with slower USB2.0 port during image read out.

DDR memory buffer is the main difference between ASI “Cooled”  series and “Pro” series cameras.

Unique Tilt Adapter

ASI094 Pro and ASI128 Pro includes unique tilt adapter. Say goodbye to tilt problems forever !ASI094-tilt-adapter-3mm

USB 3.0 Port & USB2.0 HUB

USB 3.0 Port: can provide 5Gb bandwidth to let ASI094 Pro run at 5 fps(14bit, normal mode) and ASI128 Pro run at 7 fps (14bit, normal mode)  at full resolution.

ASI094 Pro and ASI128 Pro have one full frame sensor, so the power consumption (650mA@5V) is much higher than other cameras. But USB3.0 can provide 1000mA current, so camera can run standalone under USB3.0 host, it doesn’t need external power supply.

You need to connect the external 12v power supply if you connect the camera to USB 2.0 host which can only provide 500ma current.

we recommends 12V at 3A or more DC adapter for cooler power supply(2.1*5.5, center positive)

Battery from 9-15V is also suitable for cooler power supply

USB 2.0 HUB: can connect with various accessories, such as filter wheel, guide camera and electronic focuser, so you can manage your cable better with USB2.0 hub. There are 2 short 0.5m USB2.0 cable come with ASI094 Pro and ASI128 Pro. the power of hub source from external power supply if you connect it.

Cooling and Anti-Dew Heater

ASI094 Pro and ASI128 Pro have 2 stage TEC cooling system to enable very deep cooling (-35℃ below ambient). you need external power supply to power on the cooler. AC-DC power adapter is not included in this package, you can order from here.

The anti-dew heater can heat the protect window to avoid any dew problem happens, the heat power is around 6W and can be turn off  in software to save power.

When? 🙂 I’d love to have one if it works as well as color cameras do. Hell, it would be great to have even 4/3” mono camera – but with 14 bit readout.

I h ave the ASI 128 and I understand that I need a UV filter. I plan to use an ONAG which has a cold mirror that passes the UV through to the guide camera. Will this allow me to not use a UV filter?

I still think UV ir cut filter is necessary. ONAG is allow IR, but still have some IR reflected into main camera.

Why were the two full frame cmos cameras discontinued? Do you plan on re releasing them in the future?

Where is the ASI094MC Pro and the ASI128 MC Pro? Why is there no more full frame sensor from ASI? Why you force customers to buy extremely expensive 60MP?

What is your latest MC full frame colour camera and price? I need two. One to fit a Celestron RASA 11″ and a Takahashi E180 astrograph.
    Thank you,
